Dan Jackson

Dan Jackson moved to Tulsa from Joplin , MO in 1951 and entered Roosevelt Jr. High as an eighth grader. While at Roosevelt , Dan began his speaking career, often preaching in his local church youth group and on special occasions to the entire congregation. Eventually word got out to other churches and by the time he was at Central he spoke often in youth groups and church services in NE Oklahoma and SW Missouri . He was licensed to preach when he was sixteen.

He moved to Texas in the fall of 1956 to attend Southwestern Assemblies of God University in Waxahachie , TX . He came back to Tulsa after one semester thinking himself in love with an older woman who had graduated from Central in ’54 or ’55. She announced her engagement to another fellow right after Dan came home. He went back to Southwestern the next fall, whereupon he met the girl of his dreams, Nelda Young . They married in 1958 and in November will celebrate 45 wonderful years of marriage.

They left Southwestern in 1959 and traveled for two years with Dan preaching in churches across America . They returned to Fort Worth in 1961 and graduated from Texas Wesleyan University in 1963. That fall they moved to Glendora , California where Dan became youth minister in a local church and taught school for two years. Then Dan was called to a larger church in 1966 to become Youth and Education Minister. He served Peoples Church in Fresno from 1966-71. In 1971 Dan was recruited by the David C. Cook Company to become a Christian Education Consultant and sales representative. Through this time he attended several Seminaries, earning his M. Div from Bethel Theological Seminary and working on a D. Min from Fuller Theological Seminary.

In 1976 Dan left Gospel Light to become Senior Pastor at Camarillo Baptist Church . He later served other Baptist Churches in California and Washington State until 1997. After leading a church of 1500 members with a budget of over $3,000,000 Dan was enlisted to join Master Plan Ministries as a Stewardship consultant. Master Plan Ministries directs Capital Stewardship Programs for churches throughout America , working across denomination lines to serve churches ranging from Pentecostal to Presbyterian. Dan is now Senior Consultant and Managing Partner of the firm.

Dan and Nelda have four children. Daughters, Tammy , Tanya and Teri have provided them with seven wonderful grandchildren. Son Dan , a late bloomer, graduated from Yale Law School in 2001 and was married that summer. He joined a law firm in San Francisco and so far there are no grandchildren from that branch of the family.

When home, Dan plays golf as often as possible and participates in community affairs through active involvement in the Corona Rotary Club. They have lived in Corona , CA since 1994 where they are active in Crossroads Christian Church.

See ya at the 50th Dan !
