Jane Whitefield

Janie says that growing up and attending John Burroughs elementary school was the fun time of her life.  She loved the parties at Linda Wolfe ’s, going to the Pines Theatre.  She said she could not understand why the boys were so bashful, but then again she said she was bashful also.

Here first kiss was Dickie Hill (whatever happened to Dick ?) at one of those “spin the bottle” parties.  At Roosevelt Jr. High her first love was Roy Hess .

After CHS Janie worked as a long distance operator for the Telephone Company.  Then she went to work at Tri State Insurance and soon afterwards met her husband who was a fireman.  After 32 years of marriage, Janie ’s husband passed away of a heart attack.  They have two daughters and four grandchildren.  She is now retired and loving it.

After never dating for ten years after her husband’s death, she attended the 2001 reunion.  She saw a good looking fellow CHS and Burroughs graduate by the name of Billy Harrison and wondered if he were single.  Fred Benford (Fast Freddy) stepped into the picture, brought Billy over to the table and forced them to get acquainted … again, after all these years.  Billy called her for a date and she refused, being so shy.  Donna Lane got on her case and she called Billy back and set up a date.  They have been going steady ever since.

Janie ’s hobbies are Grand kids, Bunco, working crossword puzzles, bowling and of course going to all those hockey games with Billy Harrison and watching all the OU games with Billy , Donna Lane and her husband Leroy .
