Rosemary Lasater (Patton)

Rosemary Lasater … Cute, pretty and smart … and plays the accordion.  How many times did we hear Rosemary play “Lady of Spain” at various talent events?  Rosemary was always into art and music.  So much so that she devoted her career to it!

Many of the neighborhood kids congregated at her home which was a north side social center.  Gene Landreth was her first kiss (Gene really got around) and her first real boyfriend was Butch JonesRosemaryLasater1955.JPG (11214 bytes) (where the heck is Butch anyway?).  She dated Danny Bell. And she had a secret crush on Charles Bright (along with Janie Whitefield) in grade school.

As with many CHS grads, Rosemary married young – right out of CHS to Sonny Snider who was a grade ahead of us.  They moved to Kansas City and opened an art supply retail store and had art classes along with picture framing.  She put her natural talents into work.  She spent 14 years in the art supply business.  She divorced after 20 years, remarried (over 26 years ago) and moved back to Oklahoma as her husband had roots in Sperry, Oklahoma. Again she put her experience to work and opened an art supply retail business and then went into the wholesale art supply and advertising business.  They have five children (he claims hers and she claims his) and now get this …10 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

Now her hobby is genealogy and she is a volunteer for the U.S. Genealogy Web Project … which is RosemaryLasater1952.JPG (26947 bytes) HUGE undertaking.  Rosemary rents or owns US Census on microfilm and transcribes every name and other info onto the above web site. Her other hobbies are bass fishing and her loveable dog, Boomer, a Shi-tzu, who graduated with honors from dog training school.  Rosemary is a deacon in the Disciples of Christ Church and teaches children’s Sunday School classes.

Bad news and good news.  Rosemary has been battling cancer for quite a while.  She says she is a three time cancer survivor!  The good news is that she survived.  Rosemary again had cancer surgery the first week in September 2003.  Fortunately the tumor was removed and she has totally recovered.  Illness kept Rosemary from attending our previous reunions, but she plans on attending our 50th!
