Her best memory at Central was handing the bouquet of red roses to Dotty Westby, on behalf of the pep club, when she was crowned Miss Central High (class Queen). She says "You’d have thought I was wearing that long red robe with the white fur trim! It’s a wonderful memory."

One her most uncomfortable moments was the day she was called into Mr. Black’s office for a reprimand! Seems the Red Feather Pep Club was out of line for shouting, "Hit ’em again, Hit ‘em again. Harder! Harder! Can you believe that considering what just happened at the 2004 Super Bowl halftime ceremonies??????Suzy has been married to attorney John Roper since March of 1957 (met him while a Delta Gamma at OU). 

She received a degree in Early Childhood Education in 1981 from Wichita State (moved to Wichita in 1970). Suzy has 3 married children and 7 grandchildren–the eldest, Jenny, will graduate from Kansas University in May of 2004 and the youngest, Emily, is 11. Suzy says "I’m getting ready for our 50th reunion by walking 2 miles 5 times a week and following the South Beach diet. (Thank goodness I have time to get in better shape!)" In 1981 she said she was going to lose 20 pounds and dye her hair and attend the 25th reunion. And she did!
