Allen gave a brief overview of items to be discussed in addition to the agenda. All   donations should be endorsed to “Central High School Class of 1956” & sent to Allen
Keenan.  The report from the Decorations, Food & Registration Committee will be      reviewed, particularly how many days & how many persons are anticipated. Allen will appoint a budget committee chair person to establish prices for events.

II.  Minutes – Joniel Russell

The minutes were approved as corrected (spelling of Dick Gable’s name) to be    distributed via e-mail.

III.     Treasurer’s Report – Jacqueline Wilson

On February 25, 2002 the bank balance was $12,768.99.  Expenses to date total   $1,263.49 (Postage-$592.21 & Web Site-$738.75).  Income to date equals $362.00
(Postage Donation-$62.00 & Music Donation-$300.00).  Current balance as of 8-10-04 is $11,800.03.

IV.   Committee Reports

A.    Fundraising – Allen Keenan for Bill Bruckner & Chris Seger

A bank account will be established in Houston for the deposit of donations to the
Comma Club.  The committee members will take a year to approach classmates whom they feel would be able to contribute $1,000 for membership in the Comma Club which will offer members a special listing in the Tom-Tom. After the initial campaign concludes, a letter will be sent to all classmates soliciting their membership.  This plan was unanimously accepted.

B.   State of the Class – Allen Keenan for Dotty Westby & Dick Rapier.

From a class roll of 1,053, Dotty & Dick have street addresses for 404, e-mail addresses for 327, & deceased notifications for 105. 217 remain missing.

C.   Venue Committee – Fred Boyd & Bob Duncan in Fred & Bob’s absence, Allen indicated that contract discussions with the
DoubleTree involved no new charges for the facilities.

D.   Food, Decorations & Registration – Marilyn Gilmer
Marilyn reported past records show that 365 people attended the Saturday
night Dinner-Dance at the 40th Reunion at the DoubleTree which can be used as a reference point in making plans.  She noted that if people are coming for golf on Friday morning, Registration & Hospitality will have to be open Thursday. Present plans call for three full days of activities, Friday through Sunday.  Real photos are needed to be blown up for use as decorations; copies will not work. It has been suggested that prices be set per event with a discount offered to those who pre-register for all events. Marilyn noted that CD’s can be played on both Friday & Saturday if we wish to reduce music costs. Someone suggested investigating the group called “Forever Plaid” which does songs from the 50’s. (Fred Benford has conducted an informal survey to sound out classmates on having a band vs. CD’s and/or a DJ.  As of August 23, he had 42 responses from those who plan to attend.  If spouses/friends also are included the number is 70. If a respondent said either option was okay, he gave a vote to each option.  The results are:  9 or 13 % prefer a band; 63 or 90 % prefer 50’s recordings quietly in the background.)

V.    Old Business

Another issue of the Newsletter is ready for the Web Site.  Allen would like to include
articles about what classmates are doing currently, such as Jacqueline’s work with Habitat for Humanity.  He asks that information be sent to him on CHS ’56 grads activities.

VI.    New Business

Allen Keenan appointed Jacqueline Wilson to chair the Budget Committee.  She will
select her committee members.

Cliff Cantrell requested that classmates offer suggestions for a class gift. One idea was to establish a scholarship.  He also asked that Tulsa residents visit Deere Jewelry at 38th & Peoria (near Best Hardware) to look at a large picture of the Class of “53   on the front steps of Central.  Cliff hopes to be able to borrow the photo in order to get a copy made.
